One of 25 left drives built, this specimen was delivered to Mrs. Dan-Axel Brostrom of Stockholm, Sweden on March 2, 1963 with an interesting host of special options including removable headrest to the right front seat, special veneers to match those in an S-3 Flying Spur (BC16LXA), cubby to rear center armrest with hinged lid, dashboard mounted tachometer to replace the left side cubby box, kilometer per hour speedometer and more. Mr. Brostrom was the scion of the Brostrom Shipbuilding Family and from 1961-1965 was married to the actress Anabelle Lee.
Some time thereafter the car is understood to have become the property of a well known Hollywood producer and lover of automobiles who resold it to a noted Beverly Hills designer in 1970 according to a loan document in its files dated May 11, 1970. It was acquired from that lady by ourselves through an agent in January 1987 and supplied to an economics professor one month later.
That gentleman later sold it through a New York dealer to the same Hollywood film producer and well reknowned automobile aficionado who had previously owned it. In 1998 he allowed us to acquire it as part of an important group of Rolls Royce and Bentleys being assembled for an enthusiastic gentleman who later entrusted it to a reliable facility which has held it from 2002 until the present.
The Dusk Grey lacquer finish, the original color of the automobile has been freshly redone to show standards and is a fine compliment to its new Scarlet Connolly hide interior. The interior wood veneers have been redone for the first time since 1963. The mechanical aspects of this never damaged very strong performer have been upgraded and refined as necessary to provide years of reliable enjoyment to it's seventh owner in over 46 years. During the process, the underside, chassis and engine bay along with the wiring have been elevated to the standard of the balance of the automobile.
Unlike some European delivered examples, it is equipped with original equipment air conditioning and power window lifts. Complete tools and correct original owner's handbook complete the package.
The current odometer reading is 73,712 kilometers (approximately 46,070 miles). The known history, lack of wear to key areas and components and odometer readings on the early repair invoices in its files are all consistent with that reading, although the records from new are not complete. |
